Rachel Dunn: Narcolepsy, Emotion, and Animal Telepathy | Episode 128

Michael Waite

In this episode, I talk with creative and filmmaker Rachel Dunn about her experiences with narcolepsy, emotions, and animal communication. We discuss the upsides of narcolepsy — such as creativity and the ability to quickly nap or fall asleep — how intense emotions trigger REM sleep and cause her body to collapse, and how she’s learned to suppress those emotions. Rachel also shares her experience with medications, sleep paralysis, a possible link to shift work, and how she channels her emotions through filmmaking and animals.

She communicates with animals through telepathy, mental images, the camera, and by quieting her mind to truly listen. We also cover eye contact, in-person encounters, and how to stay calm in potentially dangerous situations.

Rachel’s story offers a glimpse of what it’s like to live with narcolepsy, the power of emotion, and reconnection with animals amidst the noisy modern world.
